Surrey Board of Trade Sees Progress for Light Rail Transit at Inaugural Mayor’s Breakfast Series

This morning the Surrey Board of Trade hosted the first Surrey Mayor’s Breakfast Series with Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner and featured guest Amarjeet Sohi, Federal Infrastructure & Communities Minister, sponsored by Cascade Aerospace.

Business and community leaders filled the Council Chamber Theatre to hear the initiatives of Surrey City Hall and keynote speaker, Minister Sohi. In all more than two hundred people attended the inaugural event.  

Minister Sohi’s visit to Surrey was timely in advance of the first Federal Liberal Party federal budget to be released in the coming months.

“I was pleased to hear that Minister Sohi is seriously considering infrastructure investments in Light Rail Transit,” said Anita Huberman, CEO Surrey Board of Trade.

“I am pleased to hear Minister Sohi’s focus of working in close collaboration with municipalities,” said Mayor Linda Hepner. “The infrastructure needs of Surrey and the region are well documented. Our regional priority projects will benefit the economy, the environment and our residents. I look forward to working with Minister Sohi as we move forward in this era of cooperation.”

The Surrey Board of Trade will be hosting more events in the Mayor’s Breakfast Series where issues vital to Surrey’s prosperity and quality of life will be presented and progressed. The purpose of the Mayor’s Breakfast Series is to continually engage businesses and provide ongoing updates and initiatives from Surrey City Hall.  The Mayor’s Breakfast Series is anticipated to be a popular event where guest speakers will include high-profile political, business and community leaders.
