Drawing upon the example provided by recent developments in Surrey, Simon Fraser University President Andrew Petter will discuss what further steps governments, universities and communities can take to realize the province’s full potential in areas such as health, environmental and creative technologies.

Andrew Petter is President and Vice Chancellor of Simon Fraser University, and Professor in its School of Public Policy. From 1991 to 2001, he served in the Province of British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly and held numerous cabinet portfolios, including Advanced Education and Attorney General. Since becoming President of SFU in 2010, he has overseen the development and implementation of a Strategic Vision that seeks to distinguish SFU as Canada’s “engaged university defined by its dynamic integration of innovative education, cutting edge research, and far-reaching community engagement.”
