The Surrey Board of Trade will be hosting Canadian Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer for an intimate roundtable dialogue with board directors and Surrey Board of Trade members on November 15 from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Surrey Board of Trade Conference Room.
“We hold roundtables with political leaders which fosters an open dialogue on business issues between politicians and our members. Our members are able to ask thoughtful questions and provide informed comments to our leaders,” said Surrey Board of Trade CEO Anita Huberman. “A true dialogue is difficult at a large formal event.”
The Honourable Andrew Scheer, MP Regina–Qu’Appelle, was first elected in 2004 at the age of 25, and elected leader of the Conservative Party this past May. He will be attending events through the Lower Mainland, after first attending Surrey Board of Trade’s roundtable.
“We will be interested in his comments regarding the recent proposed changes to the Canadian-controlled Private Corporation taxes as well as finding out more about what his thoughts are about some of the pressing issues that impact Surrey’s businesses,” said Huberman.
Questions that will likely be asked at the roundtable include whether he would commit to supporting infrastructure funding for Surrey’s transit needs, and ensuring small businesses are treated fairly.
“I’m sure our members will have a few thoughts to share with Mr Scheer,” said Huberman, “And I’m sure he will come away with a clear idea of what Surrey needs to thrive economically.”
This is an invite-only event for members. For more information, please contact Anita Huberman, CEO, Surrey Board of Trade – anita@businessinsurrey.com
