Surrey, B.C. – On Thursday, March 8th at the 9th Annual Surrey Women in Business Awards Lunch, the Surrey Board of Trade will welcome keynote speaker Rt. Hon. Kim Campbell, Canada’s 19th Prime Minister. Ms. Campbell rose to international fame as Canada’s first female Prime Minister and one of the youngest Prime Ministers worldwide. Since her time as leader, she has traveled to represent Canada and strengthen democracy, security, and women’s leadership around the world. She currently is the chairperson for Canada’s Supreme Court Advisory Board.
As Canada’s first and only female Prime Minister, Kim Campbell’s life has been a life of firsts. From the age of 16, when she became the first female student body president of her high school, until 30 years later, as the 19th Prime Minister of Canada at the age of 46, Ms. Campbell has spent much of her life breaking barriers for women. Her determination and wit helped her battle stereotypes. Kim Campbell was recently honored as a Global Woman of Vision.
“Attendees will be inspired by her unique experience in the political arena, the price Kim Campbell paid, and the rewards she reaped for her principles, her vision, and her achievements. Both men and women in business will be inspired by her leadership,” said Anita Huberman, CEO, Surrey Board of Trade.
