Surrey Board of Trade Focuses on SFU’s Surrey Strategy with President Andrew Petter

Surrey, B.C. – On Wednesday, November 21, the Surrey Board of Trade will feature Professor Andrew Petter, President of Simon Fraser University to learn about SFU’s Surrey Strategy.

“The economic development potential of Surrey is tied to education. SFU is a leader in instigating community action through their innovative and entrepreneurial programming,” said Anita Huberman, CEO, Surrey Board of Trade.

Simon Fraser University’s stunning new building adding to the Downtown Surrey skyline will be home to the Sustainable Energy Engineering program. This is the first expansion of its Surrey campus. Planning is already underway for the next two phases that will integrate health innovation and creative technology programming.

The Surrey Board of Trade will also be presenting the 5th Annual Innovation Award at this event.

Andrew Petter is President and Vice-Chancellor of Simon Fraser University and Professor in its School of Public Policy. From 1991 to 2001, he served in the Province of British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly and held numerous cabinet portfolios, including Advanced Education and Attorney General. Since becoming President of SFU in 2010, he has overseen the development and implementation of a Strategic Vision that seeks to distinguish SFU as Canada’s “engaged university defined by its dynamic integration of innovative education, cutting-edge research, and far-reaching community engagement.”
