RIDESHARING NEWS: Surrey Board of Trade Congratulates Mayors’ Council on Moving Forward with a Regional Ridehailing Business License

On Thursday, December 12, 2019, the Metro Vancouver’s Mayors Council voted to fast-track a regional ridehailing business license program. Until now, it has been speculated that each municipality would be in charge of providing business licenses, which would lead to more red tape and bureaucracy for the ridehailing industry

Last week, the Surrey Board of Trade called on the Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council to implement a single ridehailing industry licence – an intermunicipal business license model.

“Surrey needs ridehailing and transportation options in the face of continued delays for transit infrastructure. This is a step in the right direction for ridehailing implementation across Metro Vancouver,” said Anita Huberman, “The Surrey Board of Trade is pleased with today’s Mayor’s Council vote in favour of innovation and facts.”

The Surrey Board of Trade will continue to advocate for a level playing field for the taxi industry.
