ALERT FOR APRIL 15 AT 4PM: Canada’s Minister of Economic Development to Speak to Surrey Board of Trade on COVID-19 Economic Recovery & Business Support

Canada’s Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, the Honourable Mélanie Joly will speak at an exclusive Surrey Digital Town Hall on April 15 from 4pm to 4:30pm. Anyone can attend for free. Media are invited.

Minister Joly will speak to the new business support package focused on the emergency wage subsidy from this past weekend’s parliament approval as well as post-economic recovery, including the following items:

1. A renewed framework for regional economic development

2. Technology and commercial support fund to help producers get the technology and infrastructure they need to scale up and create more jobs to connect farmers, researchers, agribusinesses and energy companies.

3. With support from the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, how will government continue supporting the creation of worker transition centres that will offer skills development initiatives and economic and community diversification activities in Western and Eastern Canada.
