At the 11th Annual (Digital) Surrey Women in Business Awards, the Surrey Board of Trade will finally welcome keynote speaker Erin Brockovich.
“The event was originally scheduled for March 2020 with close to 500 people expected to attend, but was postponed due to the pandemic,” said Anita Huberman, CEO, Surrey Board of Trade. “We had high hopes that we’d be able to resume this in person but that just doesn’t seem to be the reality. We are so excited to announce that we will be moving forward with a digital event on Friday, October 23rd from 11:00am – 2:00pm.
“I had the chance to speak to Ms. Brockovich this past week and I can absolutely say she is an amazing, inspirational woman. The audience will have key takeaways during this uncertain economic time with a key message that encompasses that anything is possible for women no matter what!”
It’s been over 15 years since Julia Roberts starred in the Oscar-winning tour de force, Erin Brockovich. The film turned an unknown legal researcher into a 20th century icon by showcasing how her dogged persistence was the impelling force behind the largest medical settlement lawsuit in history.
The event will also include the presentation of the Surrey Women in Business Award Winners for 2020.
Those that purchased tickets will automatically be transferred over to the new date.
While the event was postponed in March, the Surrey Board of Trade, in making that decision to keep all attendees safe, faced significant financial repercussions. The food from the cancelled event was provided to those facing hardships in light of the pandemic. Further, the Surrey Board of Trade is now partnering with The Full Cupboard, the Envision Financial community-based signature program established in 2013 to raise food, funds and awareness about the critical issue of hunger in the communities where they operate. Partial proceeds of this event will be donated to the Surrey Food Bank, through The Full Cupboard.
As this event is digital, additional attendees can register now.
