At SFU Surrey’s campus today. Minister Melanie Joly with local Surrey MP’s announced the new Regional Development Agency for BC, building on the work of Western Economic Diversification. Pacific Economic Development Canada will be headquartered in Surrey, soon to be the largest city in BC, expected by 2030.
“The Surrey Board of Trade actively advocated to the federal government for the location of BC’s Regional Development Agency to be in Surrey,” said Anita Huberman, CEO, Surrey Board of Trade. “We have completed many projects with Western Economic Diversification – this location will be a game changer for jobs and business creation in Surrey and for all of BC.”
This announcement will enable better services and connections to businesses and industry opportunities.
Western Economic Diversification Canada works to diversify the western economy while improving the quality of life of western Canadians. Their goal is to be a leader in building a strong, competitive West by focusing on business development, innovation and community development.
