As Canada becomes a place of refuge, BC prepares to welcome Afghan refugees. There will be many difficulties and challenges on the road ahead for Afghan refugees and their families.
“This crisis has left many businesses asking how to help with resettlement and facilitate this transition so our new residents feel safe and at home in Surrey,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade.
The Surrey Board of Trade and MOSAIC will host a digital event on October 7 to share what’s happened so far, what to expect next, and some concrete actions community leaders can take, either as a local business or as individuals, to support the resettlement efforts.
Speakers:
- Zarghoona Wakil, MOSAIC Senior Manager of Specialized and Innovative Programs. Zarghoona is a former Afghan refugee and is a leader of the Afghan community in Metro Vancouver.
- Alexandra Dawley is MOSAIC’s Senior Manager of Refugee Resettlement and Integration Programs. She engages closely with the Canadian Council for Refugees and manages MOSAIC’s activities as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder.
