SURREY HEALTH CARE NEWS: Long COVID Treatment Health Care Innovation Announced in Surrey for Businesses

The Surrey Neuroplasticity Clinic at HealthTech Connex, in partnership with the Surrey Board of Trade and the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan represented by S&F Group Benefits Inc., have announced a ground-breaking innovation project to help people with protracted COVID-19 symptoms.  Many individuals who contracted the virus are still reporting profound fatigue, brain fog, difficulties concentrating, sleep problems, and an inability to tolerate exercise due to cardiac and respiratory symptoms. This has a huge impact on their ability to work productively and enjoy their activities and relationships.

“We sought the most current research and engaged the brightest minds from multiple health care professions to put together an evidence-based program; engaging Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Physicians, Kinesiologists, Counsellors and more,” said Tanja Yardley, VP Clinical Innovation, HealthTech Connex. “The preliminary results have been impressive, with improvements across nine domains of cognitive function and improved tolerance for work and other activities. Thanks to the advocacy of the Surrey Board of Trade and their amazing partners, we are now able to offer this program at a reduced cost to Surrey Board of Trade members and others within our community while we work together to advance knowledge in this important field of healthcare.”

“We are pleased to exclusively offer our support to this ground-breaking healthcare innovation which advances brain health research and supports Surrey employers and their team members impacted by long COVID to promoting a productive, healthy, and thriving business community,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade.

The Surrey Neuroplasticity Clinic also worked with other clinical partners in Surrey’s Health & Technology District. ABI Wellness provided BEARS, an outstanding brain training platform. Neurocatch Inc.’s portable EEG Class 2 medical device helped to measure the impact of the long COVID-19 treatment. The Centre for Neurology Studies supported a comprehensive literature review. The collaborative effort of these health and technology firms is changing lives and advancing the science on this complex condition.
