On November 24, the Federal Government released the National Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan. The Strategy and Action Plan was a result of extensive consultation with industry, other orders of government, and the public.
“The Surrey Board of Trade has been advocating for a national approach to issues related to natural disasters and climate change, and we are pleased with the National Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan, which included many of the recommendations we made over the years,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade. “The Action Plan in particular will have profound impacts on how we can protect businesses and the economy when another natural disaster hits.”
“What we need now is for the Federal Government to work with provincial, regional and municipal governments as well as the private sector – to ensure that the action plan and its impact on investment decisions create the results that we need – and the innovation that we need to face climate change challenges.”
The Surrey Board of Trade is a part of the Climate Proof Canada Coalition (membership is noted below).
