Surrey Board of Trade to Lead a Taiwan Smart City Delegation in March 2024

The Surrey Board of Trade, and their Surrey International Trade Centre, is leading a 10 person business delegation to Taipei, Taiwan to participate in the Smart City Summit and Expo between March 19 to 22, 2024. The event will feature B2B matchmaking sessions and innovative forums creating synergies and business opportunities. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Vancouver are assisting the Surrey Board of Trade with this delegation.

“As we build Surrey, connections with international businesses to explore investment opportunities in Surrey and in Taiwan are a part of our economic development ecosystem,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade. “These global trips save companies valuable time and resources by maximizing contact with prospective distributors, sales representatives, or partners.”

Taiwan is one of three markets under the BC Government’s new trade diversification strategy and BC’s sixth largest export destination in 2023. The BC Government has identified Taiwan as a strategic international country to do business with as a regional hub for international businesses, with easier access and distribution channels in East Asia and Southeast Asia.

1.     Taiwan is a key hub in the global technology supply chain, it is highly innovative and ranked number one in patent filings.

2.     Taiwan has good infrastructure, a highly educated workforce and is very open to international trade.

3.     Taiwan’s economic strengths lie in the high-tech manufacturing sector such as semiconductors, laptops, servers, LCD panels, smartphone components, and machine tools.
