Surrey Board of Trade Goes to Ottawa for Government Advocacy and Federal Budget Lock-Up

The Surrey Board of Trade will be in Ottawa this weekend and into next week to speak to a variety of Ministers, Senators, and government representatives to speak about Surrey priorities. In addition, organization representatives will be in Ottawa for the federal budget lock-up, which is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand and prior to public budget release from Federal Ministers.

Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade, and Jasroop Gosal, Policy & Research Manager will participate in the pan-Canadian delegation, which will focus on advancing key advocacy items crucial to Surrey’s business community.

Anita Huberman will engage with policymakers and stakeholders to foster an innovative economy, promoting initiatives that support entrepreneurship, research, and technological advancement. Jasroop Gosal will participate in discussions on enhancing industry competitiveness, addressing challenges, and exploring opportunities to drive economic growth.

Hill Day, organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, provides a platform for stakeholders to advocate for policies spanning various sectors, including the environment and natural resources, international policy and trade, reliable supply chains, strong communities, and, notably, industry competitiveness and an innovative economy.

Anita Huberman expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “Being on the ground in Ottawa is important to ensure the Surrey lens is heard and for us to advocate for policies that drive economic growth, foster innovation, and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.”
