A BC delegation has arrived in Los Angeles to showcase the province’s thriving film and television sector, emphasizing the benefits of staging productions on Canada’s West Coast. This mission aims to strengthen BC’s reputation as a premier destination for global film and television projects and to attract high-profile productions that bolster local economies.
“Surrey is uniquely positioned to benefit from the growth of BC’s film and television industry,” said Jasroop Gosal, Interim Spokesperson for the Surrey Board of Trade. “With our diverse locations, growing infrastructure, and skilled workforce, Surrey is a vital hub for productions that drive economic development across the region.”
British Columbia’s film industry is a cornerstone of the provincial economy, contributing $3.3 billion to BC’s GDP in 2022 and supporting over 47,500 jobs. With approximately 80% of production activity derived from foreign service work, building and maintaining strong international relationships is essential for sustaining this success and unlocking future growth opportunities.
The Surrey Board of Trade recognizes the importance of this mission in securing the long-term competitiveness of BC’s creative industries. By attracting productions to the province, the initiative ensures continued opportunities for local businesses and skilled workers, while strengthening Surrey’s position as a key player in the motion-picture sector.
