The Surrey Board of Trade and the South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce congratulate Prime Minister Mark Carney and the newly appointed members of the federal Cabinet, announced yesterday in Ottawa.

“As Surrey and White Rock continue their rapid growth and economic evolution, the business community is looking to the Federal Government for bold, decisive leadership,” said Joslyn Young, CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade and Acting Executive Director of the South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce. “We welcome the new Cabinet and urge them to act swiftly on key priorities that will shape Canada’s future prosperity.”

The Surrey Board of Trade and South Surrey & White Rock Chamber especially acknowledge Surrey-Centre Member of Parliament Randeep Sarai, who was appointed as Secretary of State for International Development. Additionally, they recognize Gregor Robertson, appointed as Minister of State for Housing and Infrastructure, and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), headquartered in Surrey.

“With urgent challenges such as international and internal trade, housing, workforce development, and transportation infrastructure, this is the time for strategic investment and action,” Young added. “Surrey and White Rock are ready to partner with the Federal Government to advance policies that grow the economy and strengthen communities.”

The Board of Trade and Chamber also offer a special congratulations to Jill McKnight, former Executive Director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce, on her appointment to Cabinet as Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.

As a leading voice for Surrey and White Rock’s business communities, the Surrey Board of Trade and South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce will continue to engage with federal leaders to advocate for policies that support economic resilience, competitiveness, and inclusive growth across the region.
